[Drama] Sunao ni Narenakute

I watched the first two episodes of Sunao ni Narenakute (Fuji TV, 2010) in one go. The story caught me off guard; I didn't expect it to be this good. I've been putting off this drama because it's a Japanese romantic drama (always frustrating and sometimes with stiff acting), and I'm already in the process of watching:
Fated to Love You - I'm sooo involved
Autumn's Concerto - waiting for it to get good like everyone said it would
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge - lolz and boys
Seito Shokun! - probably will drop
Atashinchi no Danshi - also might drop
Kimi ga Ireba~Beautiful Love~ because of Yoochun, it's only a miniseries
Real Clothes - it's inspiring, and I root for the girl
Lovers in Paris - ugh I'm at the very end, but can't finish
Gourmet - just started
Coffee House - next on my hitlist
Personal Taste - b/c maybe Lee Minho is a good actor, even if I couldn't make myself watch BOF
and Supernatural - b/c my best friend is obsessed

BUT ZOMG. It's really good from the first second on! continued--
It's got a semi-unique premise: friends meet online over Twitter (it's just like texting). Also, it's pretty typically Japanese: love tri/quadr-angles and unrequited love, mysterious plotting, loneliness, depression, suicide, stuck in a rut, working hard and doing your best "ganbaremasu!" (I really like stuff like this), and of course dark pasts. Except the depression/suicide, I like everything about this drama. I'm so sympathetic toward every character except the suicide girl (omg she just wants attention, idc if she's gonna be a single mother).

--------SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!!!-------

The character I'm most sympathetic toward is Paku the "doctor" who is actually a medical equipment salesman. Even if Jaejoong didn't play him, Paku is so pitiful! Jaejoong, btw, is really good at portraying him...he's cute and helpless. He likes the substitute teacher (sn:Haru) from the get-go, but she likes the photographer. From what the other guys say, he starts to believe she likes him and goes to the movies with her, after which he tells her "chowahae" meaning "I like you." Then, he promptly runs off. GAHHHHH. He's in an unfulfilling job where he's physically bullied because he can't sell anything to a doctor who ignores him or uses him like a gofer. To top it off, he is raising his sister, a high schooler who shoplifts study books. Jaejoong, therefore, feels in adequate because he's the provider. He tells her to let him cool so she can just study and become a doctor. LOLZ Ironically, she says his cooking is tasteless...JJ is the best cook in DBSK! The sister says unfortunately Jaejoong is just good-looking, in a joking way, but you sense that Joongie, lacking in confidence, wishes he could be more useful ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Next, I feel bad for the publisher/junior editor/writer who is the son of a very wealthy, prominent doctor. He's somewhat of a wet blanket/sticky note boy/push-over because his boss-lady sexually harasses him and he accepts it because he wants his articles to be published and doesn't want to return to selling books. He could've just quit, but it also seems he is lacking in confidence since his brother is successful and he is 10 years estranged from his family. But he's very kind, helping both Jaejoong and the photographer even if it means asking his father and boss for favors. He also is very kind toward suicide girl by always coming when she calls cuz she's depressed and lonely. He refused sleeping with her, which wasn't significant until photog's hand brushed his face. He got all flustered so he's starting to like the photographer! AHHHH. There was also one scene where suicide girl took notice of the nice photog. Dang, everybody loves him.

The main actress is beautiful, and I really like her character. She is well-liked by the majority of her students and doesn't want to fall for the seemingly playboy photog. But she does! And in the last scene I saw, he finds out!

-------end spoilers---------

'Sunao ni Narenakute' is a must watch! It's beautifully shot, has a great soundtrack, and touching moments......
