[D-NA][MV] Where ARE They?

I realized that I haven't even thought of 대국남아/Dae Guk Nam Ah/D-NA since May 9th when I last visited EnchanteDNA international fan forum. These guys had a March 3 debut, and were slated to be the 2nd Shinhwa, 2nd SG Wannabe, and even the 2nd TVXQ [DBSKnights points out some similarities]. They are all former members of Xing and, yes I do say, they can sing...and dance...and sing a cappella even.

But, as is the trend in the industry nowadays, the band has to be an international sensation. So they've already hit up Japan and China. THAT'S WHERE THEY'VE BEEN! Here's some news that I've picked up on them:

100531 D-na's Concert in Japan, Audience 'Touched' at Flawless Performance

D-na, the guknam-dols* that recently debuted in March, performed at 'Seoul Train with Rainbow & D-na' at Yuport Hall in Tokyo, Japan with great success.

On the day of the showcase, over a thousand spectators crowded into the theater in order to see D-na. Even before the performance, fans could be seen waving uchiwa [T/N: fans for cheering] with imprinted words such as "D-na, Mika, Karam, etc".

As D-na stepped onto the stage, they started with their own song "Blinding World", then proceeded to perform "Admiring Boy" and songs by Shinhwa with a total of five songs performed. Particularly, the audiences were touched by both D-na's performance of the J-pop group V6's "Feel Your Breeze" prepared especially for the Japanese fans, and the effort D-na put in to translate all their talking in the chatting session between the performances into Japanese.

The Japanese audience viewing D-na's performances applauded them with tears flowing, while D-na, who also seemed to be touched, stood on stage with teary eyes. Also, it wasn't just female fans who were impressed- male fans also got up to cheer and take part in a standing ovation.

As a result of this concert, I have fallen for D-na", "I was surprised at seeing a performance that was so professional (veteran) and so unlike that of a newbie's. I'm looking forward to both their Korean and Japanese activities", "D-na's the best!" Such words were proclaimed by the fans.

D-na, who successfully completed their showcase in Japan, revealed thoughts like: "We don't think we'll be able to forget this showcase. It was really a priceless experience", "We didn't know we'd receive this much love from the Japanese fans. We're extremely grateful and have even more incentive to become a D-na that continues to improve in the future."

In the meanwhile, D-na reveals plans for a mini album in June and activities in Korea.

***Guknam-dols: A term that refers to "Gukmin namdongseng idols", which basically means national little brother idols. It's a term D-na likes to be referred to as, as they're the youngest idol group and national little ____ usually means they're very loved by the whole country.
I'm glad the Japanese fans have really warmed up to them. Starting out as a new group is always hard, so I like hearing about growing popularity and happy tears ㄲㄲㄲㄲ

WOW. I really do look at them as guknam-dols O . O It definitely has to do with their music video being a lot like DBSK's "Hug" mv from way back when.

 See what I mean?

Although I don't think it was a good idea for them to debut under such a passé concept, I wish them the best. Hopefully, they can find their own niche in the pop industry and be the newer version of the squeaky clean idols we once had. (LOLZ, because of them we have the bar set unreasonably high for our boyfriends! But hey, high standards are good for a young girl and boy to have XD) And when they make it big, D-NA and their fans can look back on their first single and cry like Cassies do ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Hmm, I should write an essay on the evolution of girl and boy bands ::notes to self::
